What to Expect

Every psilocybin journey is tailored to meet your needs. We’ll meet prior to your session to discuss your goals and create a personalized plan. Here’s what you can expect from the process, how to prepare, and how to get the most out of your experience.

Before your session

Prior to your dosing session, we will meet twice for a maximum of two hours. These meetings may take place virtually or in-person, depending on your personal preference and your physical location.

  • It’s important that every client considers their own intentions for wanting to consume this powerful plant medicine. Through conversation, we will explore your personal history and reasons for seeking treatment. You may share as much or as little about yourself as you are comfortable with. Setting clear and honest intentions for your journey while also considering any difficult emotions that may re-surface during the process will serve as a meaningful starting point for establishing set prior to the dosing session.

My goal is to establish trust, answer any of your questions and address any of your concerns prior to your psilocybin session so that you may feel safe and at ease as you begin your own process of introspection and self-healing. Lastly, while setting clear and honest intentions for your journey are important, it is also recommended that you refrain from having rigid expectations of what will happen. Expect the unexpected and remain open to what the medicine may be trying to reveal for you.

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) requires that we also complete several forms and documents prior to your administration session. Depending on which service center you choose for your session, you may be required to complete the documentation prior to our first preparatory session. If not, you will be required to complete it all before our final preparatory session.

  • Much of our 2nd preparatory meeting will involve a thorough review and discussion of all the mandatory forms and documents required by the OHA. In addition to the paperwork, we may spend some time discussing any lingering questions or concerns you may have. During this second meeting we will also discuss dosing and decide together what the appropriate dose for your journey should be. Lastly, we will also discuss any special considerations for setting during your psilocybin session. These may include things like musical playlists, the use of an eye mask and headphones, food and beverage options and any other requests you may have regarding setting. A psilocybin session may last up to 6 hours or longer depending on the dose consumed.

Consider your set & setting

Set: Your mindset going into the day of your psychedelic dosing.

Setting: The space and people around you when you take your dose and experience its effects.

During your session

On average, the psilocybin begins to take affect within 30 minutes after consumption. Clients report many different experiences ranging from the mystical to the playful to the uncomfortable. Be prepared for many emotions to surface and remain open to what the mushrooms may be trying to show you. Every session is different, and every client is unique. Truly, no two psychedelic journeys are alike!

A few considerations prior to arriving for your dosing session:

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move with ease

  • Layer clothing as clients often experience temperature changes during an experience

  • I recommend bringing a change of clothes in the event that they are needed during a session

  • Fast or eat a light, healthy meal prior to experience (while fasting is not necessary, beginning a psilocybin session on a full stomach is not recommended)

Upon arriving at the facility, we will:

  • Review all of our prior agreements

  • Address “day of” emotions

  • Review your intentions for the session

  • You will consume your psilocybin dose previously agreed upon

  • Now, lay back, remain open and let the magic mushrooms be your guide

After your session

Following a dosing session, it may take a while for a client to process everything that occurred during their experience. It is not recommended to plan any activities directly after a journey, including the following day. You may not operate a motor vehicle following a dosing session, so please be sure to arrange for a ride home. Treat the experience like a mini vacation, allowing enough time to be present with yourself and the emotions that may surface. It’s important to stay with the process and wait on making any big life changes. Journaling is often an important next step in understanding your experience.

Book an integration session

Booking an integration session is another option available to you and we can discuss this option during our preparatory sessions. All clients will receive a follow up contact within 72 hours of their psilocybin session, providing various resources for continued exploration.
