Stormy Weather

I don’t know about you but when the sun is shining and the spring blooms start to peek out of the ground, I definitely feel my energy and overall mood shift. What a difference a few sunny days this time of year make!

Spring weather in the Pacific Northwest is a great metaphor for life. A few sunny days, spring bulbs beginning to bloom, energy to do a little spring cleaning … and then blam! Rain, snow and colder temperatures often return with a vengeance.

What if you could learn to appreciate the rain and use it for growth? No, I’m not currently tripping. Read on!

Weathering the Storm

A Path to Resilience

Just like spring weather, life often throws unexpected twists and turns our way. If you let outside factors dictate your mood and emotions, then this time of year may have you feeling very up and down. Maybe you have found ways to manage (vacation to the sun, anyone?), but what if you shifted your perspective altogether?

While we cannot control life (or the weather for this example), we can control how we react and how we frame a situation. Even on the darkest days, when we give ourselves permission to honor our feelings (without judgment) while simultaneously seeking gratitude for these challenges, resilience begins to blossom. Resilience builds muscle memory, new neural pathways and confidence in our own capabilities to handle whatever life may throw our way.

Without true gratitude however, it’s easy to get stuck in our feelings and give up hope for sunnier days. Sometimes finding gratitude in a dark situation seems impossible. Bad things do happen to us and it will rain again. The next time something doesn’t go as you planned or life beats you up, ask yourself if you can find gratitude despite the circumstance. It may not be easy at first but keep at it. Even in death, gratitude for a life lived can be found. And without the PNW rain, we wouldn’t have psychedelic mushrooms growing throughout our state. What are you grateful for today?

Review of the Month

My experience was incredible, beautiful, intense, difficult and transformative. It was like a deep dive into my psyche that provided beautiful insights about life and also challenged me to confront difficult personal issues. I am glad to have Michelle as my support - she is so warm and caring but also professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend this experience to anyone who is truly open to the inner journey and ready to apply the powerful insights that may be gained.

Bathroom Trip

And a Dose of My Own Medicine

I’m often coaching clients to surrender and sit with whatever feelings may come up during their psilocybin journey. Trying to guide and steer the experience is almost always ego driven. A recent client experience really drove that lesson home while also giving me a taste of my own medicinal advice.

When a client became emotionally stuck in the bathroom for over two hours my facilitator instincts kicked in and I kept trying to persuade and guide her out of the bathroom and back to her journey room. This particular client was extremely verbal and continued to voice each passing thought and emotion as they occurred. After trying to coach her back to her room for nearly fifteen minutes, I suddenly realized that I, too, was being driven by my ego.

My ego wanted her back in her room because that’s where I was comfortable. My ego worried that she may interpret this experience as negative once she came down from the medicine. Once I stopped trying to steer her experience and let it unfold as is, some amazing healing took place. Given that she was the only client on site that day, I surrendered to the situation and gave space for her to explore all of her feelings, physically and emotionally. Turns out, she felt that the experience was exactly what she needed. The physical manifestation of feeling uncomfortable served as an emotional release which in turn gave her insight into her own ego driven patterns and behaviors.

The next time you find yourself exerting unnecessary energy to change the present circumstance, ask yourself why? The answers may unlock new insights into your own ego driven behaviors.

Breathwork for Continued Growth

An Integration Idea

I recently attended one of Briana’s group breathwork ceremonies. It was so great that I reached out and asked if she would like to collaborate (coming soon). In the meantime, check out Briana’s site for 1:1 coaching, private and/or group breathwork ceremonies. BRIANALYNN.NE T
